If you travel west on Madison Street past the United Center to Western Avenue, you will find yourself in the East Garflield Park community of Chicago. It is anchorer by Garfield Park to the west which commands about 20% of the community's land area. The park is home to the famous Garfield Park Conservatory with its six massive greenhouses and two exhibition halls.

East Garfield Park has seen its share of economic strife and social turmoil throughout the years but recently Chicagoans have been redeveloping and moving to the area for its great location and easy access to the Loop (the area is served by both the CTA Blue and Green lines). As evidence of this renewal, in 2007 East Garfield Park was voted one of America's "Most Up and Coming Neighborhoods" by Businessweek magazine. Unfortunately, development has slowed over the past couple of years since the economic collapse but East Garfield Park will probably continue to be an attractive area for redevelopment in the future.
