Chicago Suburban Cities and Towns
From Aurora to Winnetka and Beyond
Chicagoland is a word originally coined in 1926 by Colonel Robert R. McCormick, editor and publisher of the Chicago Tribune. Colonel McCormick stated that Chicagoland was comprised of everything within a 200-mile
radius from the city. The Tribune made this statement because it was the dominating newspaper in the area at the time and people throughout the region were linked to Chicago by rail and commerce.
The word Chicagoland is still used today to describe the diverse and vast suburban areas beyond the city limits. Linked by highway and rail links to the city, once small farm towns such as Naperville in Dupage County have experienced incredible growth over the past fifty years.
Homeowners are drawn to the suburbs for it's a great place to raise a family while still having access to all the cultural attractions that the City of Chicago has to offer.
