Get Cash at Closing When Purchasing in Evanston, IL

Evanston is a historic lakefront community on the shores of Lake Michigan. It is the first suburban town north of Chicago and is the home of Northwestern University.

Evanston was incorporated in 1857 by the same group of Methodists that founded Northwestern and named for their leader, John Evans. The city has a long history of Christian values and temperance and was even a "dry" community until 1972. Because of the religious history there are many architectually significant churches in Evanston.

Because of the large drama program at Northwestern University, many actors are either from or have studied in Evanston such as Charleston Heston, Marlon Brando, and Jeremy Piven.

Real estate in Evanston is diverse with many fine single-family homes on tree-lined streets. More recently, the downtown area has seen an explosion in high-rise condo construction.
